Welcome to Maui’s hidden escape

Haiku House is a nine-bedroom luxury estate located on 20 lush acres of paradise on Maui’s North Shore. The house is enveloped in a rich botanical history, with naturally aged beauty marks that remind us of the power of mother nature and the peacefulness we can feel in her arms.

The paths around the property take you to grand views of majestic trees, vast open fields and peaceful nooks under an arboreal canopy. Whether you are taking a walk around the grounds, reveling in the roots of the Moreton figs, relaxing with a refreshment by the pool, sipping coffee on the lanai, or gathering fruits and vegetables from the garden, there is a feeling of privacy that offers an overwhelming sense of serenity.

Our Story

The Haiku House estate has an impressively rich history. Originally deeded to Richard Armstrong from King Kamehameha III, it has since been passed to numerous owners that have contributed collections of stories to the house and grounds on which it rests. Henry Baldwin of the famous Alexander & Baldwin lived here; as did Athalie Clark, the notable philanthropist and activist from Irvine, California, who became so inspired by Crystal Cathedral’s Reverend Schuller that she gifted the estate to him. Reverend Schuller used the property as a retreat, eventually selling it to the family of Bill Simon, former U.S. Secretary of Treasury. The house was a special gathering place for the Simon family for decades before it was purchased in 2015 by the Chan family, the estate’s current owners.
